Keep yourself monsoon ready!

As June has started rain is on our doorstep… Monsoon in India is on another level , the best season to explore few places. Who doesn’t love the smell of wet earth when the rains hit it? Or thick clouds in a silver-grey sky and parched brown landscape giving way to greenery.  Everyone loves to eat moong ke pakode and pudina ki chutney… yumm… and of course that two glasses of chai with romantic talks below the roof of tapri. But with all these good things there are few bad things too. like Getting your dress spoil in mud, It’s a sunny morning and bam! Its raining, the musty smell and etc…

So here are a few ways you can be monsoon ready;

  1. Time to change your wardrobe

As the summer is saying bye and little raindrops are gonna fall it’s time to pack away those stilettos, leather shoes, sheer tops and white &black shirts. Take out waterproof sandals, capris and colourful umbrellas.
White and black colour get more dirty and get visible when mud sticks to it, try using some colourful or nice floral design shirts. Try to use materials like linen, chiffon, georgette clothes which are light to carry, if possible wear short dresses with flip flop! A perfect style to carry. Keep the denims aside as they usually take a long time to dry. Also humidity can make your hair frizzy. A neat bun or a ponytail or a braid is a great way to keep it under control.

  • Have a change in diet plan

As pitter patter rain drops we also want to eat tasty outside food. But with monsoon also come many diseases which affect our health a lot. So we should take proper diet because your metabolism may need a slight nudge in the form of lighter food. Adding seasonal fruits and vegetables to your diet is a good idea.

 This can prevent you from contracting water borne diseases that spread during this season. To avoid getting seasonal allergies, infections, viral fever and more, stay away from eating unhygienic street food. Instead, consume more home cooked meals and opt for hot beverages over cold ones.

  • How to keep your house smell free

Sometimes you don’t feel like going anywhere during rainfall, you just feel like sitting at your home by the window and enjoy the rain. But wait! something is smelling bad..ugh, that the musty smell. So to get rid of such musty smell you may use  lemon and vinegar. It can magically remove any foul smell from your home. Also, if you keep neem leaves in your cupboard, you will be able to save your clothes from fungus and bad smell. Baking soda and rock salt are other alternatives that can give a fresh smell to your home.

  • Remove smell from Clothes

No amount of perfume or deodorant will hide the smell. First and foremost, make sure you air your monsoon clothes well before wearing them. It is best not to use any of the advertised clothing deodorants that are available nowadays, at least not immediately. Natural airing will likely get rid of any odors completely. If you still think they need more treatment, you can try such  clothes deodorant but make sure you choose the appropriate spray for the type of fabric.

Also while travelling our clothes starts smelling because of the humidity, always carry a deodorant and sanitizer with you.

  • DIY your house

As I told you earlier during the rainy season many of us don’t feel like walking out,  instead we just feel like sitting inside watching movies, TV series, listening to soft music… reading books etc. But when its a cool grey weather outside… and a dull house inside it’s no fun right? So why not we decorate our house with few lights, candles.

Monsoon bring relief from heat, it gives you the opportunity to cozy up next to the heater, and display your colour with rainbow. So get up and get yourself ready for Monsoon!

Happy monsoon to everyone!
